NO MORE CANTED SCOPES
« on: September 01, 2003, 08:48:04 AM »
The new DeadEye™ Precision Scope Leveler, introduced by PPA Manufacturing Company, gives every scoped firearm user a better chance at more accurate shots by eliminating scope cant error.
According to Phil Pinkley, inventor of the DeadEye Precision Scope Leveler, “Whether you are a varmint hunter, big game hunter, thousand yard shooter, or shoot targets at the range, you have to eliminate scope cant before you can achieve consistent accuracy.. .” Experts agree that vertical alignment is a critical first step, often bypassed by shooters who are unaware of cant problems or don’t know how to easily correct cant error.
At a suggested retail price of $36.95, the DeadEye Precision Scope Leveler is a simple, low-cost dual-level system that helps shooters get tighter groups faster when they subsequently zero scopes with expensive bore sighters…or using costly ammo at the range.  With the DeadEye Precision Scope Leveler eliminating canted scopes by leveling a scope to a firearm is a simple task that takes just minutes.

The line where the celing meets the wall may be a fairly good reference point,  as is a door jamb, if you are sure it is truly level, and is certainally better than nothing.  But I found several problems with that :  1.  My house and most houses are not that true....  2.  If your weapon is not level in a left to right stance, you are leveling your scope to a canted weapon.  a cant error as little as 5 degrees can affect your accuracy as much as 1/2 MOA.   3.  Try taking that to the range with you    I don't know about you, but MY WIFE is not quite that understanding.
