Inventory decreased by 86% last year

Sturm Ruger & Co. is staffing up in order to meet the “historic surge” in gun demand that has depleted its inventory.

The Southport, Connecticut-based gun maker has hired 250 employees, mostly in production, since the middle of 2020 to help replenish its stocks as the surge in demand caused combined inventories in its warehouses and distributors to decrease by 86%, or 290,000 units, last year. Retailer inventory of Ruger also remains low.

The hiring spree resulted in a 30% increase in production during the second half of 2020. Ruger is continuing its hiring spree today.

“We are working hard to replenish inventories throughout the distribution channel as quickly as possible, so consumers can purchase the Ruger firearms that they desire,” Sturm Ruger CEO Christopher Killoy said on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call on Thursday.

Gun demand skyrocketed late in the first quarter of 2020 and continued throughout the year as Americans desired protection amid the violence that swept through cities following the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes, and as people craved socially-distant outdoor activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Customers also bought guns in anticipation of regulatory changes due to the Democrats gaining control of the White House and both chambers of Congress.

Sturm Ruger on Wednesday evening reported 2020 sales rose 39% from the prior year to $568.87 million. Annual net profit was up 180% year over year to $90.4 million.

Shares were up 5.26% year-to-date through Wednesday after gaining 38% in 2020.

Why are people still buying guns, when Biden is just going to try and take them? If he's able to pull it off.
Or tax the crap out of us and any ammo.

Why were people buying and stockpiling
supplies for the "end of the world " events  ?
Where did they think they were going to
go to when the world ended  ?
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Democrats always have created lots of business for gun, and ammo manufactures.  In the past year there have been two forces that spurred gun buying. The BLM, and Antifa riots, and now the stolen election by Marxists.

Its to bad there are not a couple more companies that make primers.  With the increased sale of firearms goes the increased demand for ammo, and the materials to make it.

That's good news, Ruger has a plant in my state so that means more jobs for us.

Always wished I could have had a job working in a gun manufacturing plant.

How did he sneak out the engine block? I always figured that he was joking about that.

LOL,  Yes maybe!  ;D  I suppose it would be a lot easier getting gun parts out the door compared to a cadillac. Although I suspect gun manufacturing plants have a bit of security to stop that kind of thing.

My father worked at the Portsmouth Navy Yard and told me that he worked with a guy who stole 30 lbs. of scrap copper every day. He did it for years and years. He used a press to flatten out the copper into a strip. He put a piece of rope at each end so that he could wear the strip of copper as a belt to get past the Marine guards at the gate. My father heard he paid off his house doing that. He did eventually get caught but nothing happened to him, the government made him take an early retirement and he got no jail time.

If you can return stuff and get a timely fix it wouldn't be too bad.
Does Ruger take care of their customers??

Ruger has no warranty, expressed or implied. BUT they have the best customer service in the industry. If it ain't right they will make it right at their expense.

I had the opportunity to tour the Ruger plant in Prescott. First class operation. Talked to some employees there and was told they (Ruger) treats them real good. After the tour the wife and me received several nice souvenirs from Ruger.
