GOA Files SCOTUS Brief in Case Involving 2A & 4A Rights
« on: February 19, 2021, 02:21:16 AM »
Gun Owners of America, and its foundation (GOF), have submitted an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in the case  Caniglia v. Strom.

The case involves violations of both the Second and Fourth Amendments, after firearms were confiscated during a welfare check, pursuant to the so-called “community caretaking” exception to the Fourth Amendment’s warrant requirement.

Erich Pratt, Senior Vice President of GOA, noted that “The chief question in this case is the ‘community caretaking’ exception to the Fourth Amendment, a judge-created doctrine which has evolved and expanded unchecked in the courts over the years.

“If this doctrine is allowed to justify the conduct in this case, law enforcement will be able to confiscate Americans’ firearms without a warrant, under the false banner of keeping our communities safe.”

Arguments before the High Court in this case are set to occur in March. You can read GOA’s amicus brief here. https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/20/20-157/166564/20210115163831475_Caniglia%20GOA%20amicus%20brief.pdf

The GOA has been doing all of the heavy lifting lately.

I'm hoping the NRA can get cleaned up and help carry the load.

I'll bet the SC does nothing?

I'll bet the SC does nothing?

That's a very safe bet.

I used to regularly hear from Marion Hammer, former President of the NRA and respected Pit Bull for the RKBA, via email regarding pending anti- and pro-gun legislation in Florida.  She has gone silent since about 2018 and I have changed nothing.

I did a little looking and it seems that Hammer and LaPierre were in cahoots to bleed the NRA of Millions.
They broke NRA rules and NY state law, not to mention the IRS may be on their trail.

We'll see what happens.
