Sighting in - Encore 50x209
« on: June 07, 2004, 12:29:53 PM »
Finally getting into some serious shooting these past couple of weekends.  The grouping was consistently off to the right.  I have adjust the factor sight on the Encore to the end of adjustment screw and find the group is still 3" plus to the right at 50yds.  Yes I moved it in the right direction.  I wanted to stay with the factor open sight but ... am I missing something or are there other options with the factory open sights?

How many different bullet / sabot combinations does this happen with? Powder charge?

New to this so only tried Hornady 240 gr .45 with Hornady (black) sabot.   Currently only using pellets so tried 100gr.  Two of us shot about 20 rounds with similar results.  We were both to the right although I was consistently higher.  Bought 300 gr .44 Hornady with green sabot but haven't tried these yet.  Sounds like we require more work at the bench?

So I understand this, the rear sight is moved all the way to the left, but you still hit 3" to the right at 50 yards?

That's right.  There actually isn't much travel horizontally on these factory sights.  I have a williams peep for the Encore that I could mount to try it but I haven't checked the travel on these either.

As you moved the rear sight to the left, did the group move with the sight change?

What kind of setup did you have to shoot?  Benchrest, sandbags, etc.

Where was the forearm resting when you shot?  Were you swabbing the bore after each shot?  Sorry so many questions.
WHUT?
