The Sun and Lyman #4500
« on: January 04, 2003, 10:23:44 AM »
At the beginning of cooler weather I was having trouble with the bullets being too cold and this would harden up the lube enough to keep sizing/lubing from happening.  Then I placed a small reflective light over the bullets and it warmed them enough to size without problems.
Well yesterday and today I was again sizing (totally agree with Lloyd about sizing being a pain) and the Sun was hitting the 4500 body.  This was enough to make the lube too soft.  It was sticky and went everywhere.  Blocked the Sunlight and no more trouble.
The 4500 boy is black and gray unlike the 450 which is orange.  This dark color held in the heat and made the lube too soft along with the heater I was using.  Did unplug the heater and turn off the light over the bullets as I blocked the sunlight.  After a few minutes was back to normal.
