Forgot this one.https://www.streetmusclemag.com/features/rare-rides-the-1969-american-motors-corporation-hurst-sc-rambler/   My first new car I bought from Skip Randall in Lake Havasu in 1969. What a car. Wished I still had it.

AMC was known for putting V8's into smaller vehicles. Even some of they're jeeps, those would burn rubber.

I was able to see the drag cars first hand when I was at a AMC meet in Kenosha ten or so years ago.
I had hoped the Trans-Am and NASCAR/USAC cars would be there but they were not; still a darn good show.
We stayed in Harvard , Ill. and it was nice drive to and from the show.

This is the toughest true stock car, with minor mods, in the world.
The Europeans were greatly impressed in how well the AMC cars did, especially with true street tires.

I would love to have a 1968-69 Javelin, hop it up to a reasonable level; with alloy blocks and heads available now for AMC engines, you do not have to search for hard to find speed parts.

Bob I have to agree with you finally. The 68 and 69 Javelins were definitely a head turner and no slouch in the speed department either. When i bought my Rambler scrambler my friends thought i was crazy until they went for a ride with me. But the Javelins were very nice on the eyes. Still are.

there was one an airman from the base had back in the day. It was FAST. If he didnt make a mistake he could run with anyone. He was a spoiler. Nobody wanted to get beat by an rambler hornet. There were two cars i was allways the most nervous when i pulled my ls6 up to the line. His and another airman's 327 365hp chev II. those two cars on the right day were big block killers. Nobody wanted to race them. It wasnt embarassing if i lost to a 440 six pack or a hemi. everyone knew they were about an equal to my car but a rambler!!!
