Went out to my mailbox..pleasant surprise..
« on: April 19, 2021, 11:38:10 AM »
Got my current issue of NRA..American Hunter..

One article headlines..RUGER TO SHIP FIRST MARLIN RIFLES LATER THIS YEAR..

Pres & CEO or Ruger, Christopher J Killoy says; "We inherited a lot of equipment that needed some additional maintenance and additional work".... (&*^#% bean counters!)

"....We plan on shipping our first Ruger made Marlin lever-action rifles from our Maine facility in late 2021."

Initial plans will focus on models 1894,1895 and 336...  with the likelihood of model 60 semi-auto rimfire to follow soon after..

"..But there is still a lot of work ahead"...Killoy cautions..

Going out to the mailbox involves driving into town to the post office. My son usually does that as he started sharing our PO Box back in his army days and has never decided to change to his own box and stops off to drop our mail when we get some. I read the same article this afternoon. Ruger should turn out a good product and they are known for standing behind what they make.

Hope They do away with the " Micro Grove " Rifling....

If so...I'll take a 1894 in .357mag and .41mag...

Oh...and one in .45colt Please!

They should keep the micro groove in the model 60.
Because that's probably the reason the model 60 is so accurate right out of the box.

i have to cross the road to my RFD box..  In any case, this Ruger/Marlin news sounds great.

I wouldn't put too much stock in Remington arms themselves, since they are now owned by an "investment" firm..much as they were before.

In fact, I understand that the investment firm was convinced to buy Remington, by a newly hired executive..the same bean counter who ran Remington into the ground to start with !

Well we'll see
If they're reasonably priced, they
may be worth a look.  I've little
interest in a new $1000.00 + rifle
to shoot a deer or a pig with when
I can do it with one of my $150.00
ones just as efficiently.  Prestige
doesn't mean doodley scoot to me
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I always figured Marlin's micro-groove was a plus, especially in their rimfires..

I didn’t find that to be true with the one I owned for a time. That is the reason I no longer own it. I also owned a 39 for quite awhile and it certainly wasn’t the most accurate 22 I have either.

.
  of the accurate 22s that I have owned...now passed to a grandson..A CZ 452 and a Marlin 880SQ..

I believe the 880SQ had the edge on accuracy.   The single Marlin 60 That I owned, easily out shot 3 out of 4 Ruger 10/22s..before I "tricked out" the 10/22s

The one the Marlin couldn't out shoot, was the 10/22 I bought overseas..a first year model,(serial# 66**).

..But that original Ruger out shot some other models of rifles which were considered to be very accurate.
