Engraving on your favorite firearm
« on: April 12, 2021, 02:33:20 PM »
I have been wonting to dress up my custom 93 Mauser for some time and I ran across this fellow in Texas. So I sent him my floor plate and he engraved it and I like it so well that I sent him my Bolt to have the caliber engraved on it as there was nothing on the rifle that said what caliber my rifle was. He does it with a laser I think and it is really nice and not too expensive. He laid it all out then sent me a picture for my approval before the work was done. He also builds custom rifles His web site is Finisherscorner.com if any of you fellows would have an interest. he does a lot of custom stuff on Mausers and other foreign rifles. I made the butt cap out of black walnut

Matt and I now own a laser to do such work. He is still in the experimental stage with it. He has done engraving on wood and stone that I know of. Dunno when he will begin to do it for profit, soon I hope, but he should in time be in that business.

He doesn't have an FFL and doesn't do gunsmith work but a floor plate or any none serial numbered gun part I guess he can eventually do.

This is a picture of the picture he sent me of my floor plate. If you click on the full screen the picture get bigger but of course you knew that. My last name initial with the Mauser crest over the B, Lion on the left and a Deer on the right This one using my floor plate was 75.00 with the return shipping. I had a choice of high luster or satin finish and I chose the satin If you have a 98 Mauser he offers them already engraved for around 100.00 He also offers metal grip caps engraved.

picture of the picture

is that like taking the first image from a photo of "infinity" - a mirror image in a mirror?

...and that is a BEAUTIFUL floor plate.  Nice work on that.  You're gonna love it!

i never was much for engraving. Had a couple custom single actions with my name engraved on them but all it did was make then harder to sell later. that said ive seen some recent lazer engraving and it was unbelievably good. Matter of fact better then any hand engraving. Only problem with it is it was flawless and you can about tell it wasnt done by hand or at least by anyones hand that doesnt cost 500 dollars an hour.
