I know this probably isn't the forum for this, but I just wanted to tell the folks I know, and this is where they hang out!!   :D

For anyone who hasn't tried this sport, you really need to!!  A lot of fun, while not as social as Cowboy shooting, it'll run a close second.

Cool!! Tell us more. I have wanted to try other shooting sports but never seem to have the funds. By the way, I don't worry to much on the subject matter here. Heck, it is a saloon!  I figure it should have something ta do with being a cowboy in somes mall way. Since you ARE a cowboy, that means ya can say whatever ya want!! :-D

The old Sportsmen's club I use to use many years ago is about a mile and a half as the crow flies.  They have been doing IDPA shoots since 97 unoffically and started the real deal in 99.  It' a competion using real possibilities as senerios.  It's pretty equipment restrictive, basically what you can buy at your favorite gun shop.  This is done to eliminate the "equipment race" some other sports have seem to become.  They're serious about safety, but laid back otherwise.  They don't take themselves too seriously even though the club has 2 or 3 Master Class shooters.
http://www.idpa.com/  this is the website.
http://pub62.ezboard.com/bidpaforum  This one is just a forum for IDPA, they'll never be a GBO, but they have quite a bit of information.
It is a good time.   I'm looking forward to next month.

Hey Butler,

Did you use your cowboy guns?

I shot IDPA before I got into CAS, and it definitely is fun, with a lot of practical application, especially if you carry concealed.  I shot a 1911 clone in .45 ACP, and still have a 5 gal. bucket of empties.

All I can say, is if you're gonna shoot CAS and IDPA, you're not gonna have time to look for lost mules.  All you're gonna have time to do is shoot and reload ammo, shoot and reload ammo.  'Course, that's not necessarily a bad thang.
Careful is a naked man climbin' a bobwire fence.

Will, sorry for takin' so long to get back to ya, I had posted a reply, but after thirty minutes of waiting, I gave up on trying to get it posted.  Yeah, I did shoot a classifier.  There were a bunch of kids from the other end of the state that came to shoot the match and had arranged for a classifier.  They are trying to get their stuff together to go to the national match this year.  It was a lot of fun shooting with these kids.  They just added fuel to my belief that kids raised with guns in the house are more respectful, polite and more responsible than their peers.
How did I do???   I had a good time.
Capn'  If I can find another cylinder for my Colts I may give them a try sometime just for the fun factor.  An' as far as shootin' and reloadin', shucks, I gotta throw in time for castin before I can get to reloadin'!!
