Storing Black Powder
« on: October 07, 2021, 05:31:16 AM »
I’m ready to move my unopened black powder to my goat barn and was concerned about the humidity it would be exposed to in Central Florida. I contacted Hodgdon and they responded it should be fine, as long as it was still unopened.  Project for the weekend is to make a shelf in the barn that’s at a goat safe height and transfer my inventory out of my house

Should not be a problem at all. Those plastic containers should last forever if stored out of sunlight and will be impervious to the humidity.  I started reloading shot shells the other day because I could not find any in stores.  Went down to the basement and pulled out my old MEC 9000 that I haven't touched in over a decade and found that I left a dozen or so primers in the primer tray, which is open to the elements.  Loaded them up and they all went bang.  This is Wisconsin though...

I think of goats and horses in
the same way
If there's a microscopic place to
get traction on an oil coated 15 foot
teflon wall, a goat will figure it out.
If there's the tiniest sharp something
in a mile of pasture fence, a horse will
find it and lacerate theirselves and
garner a $1000.00 vet bill

Comments call to mind the Andy Griffith episode about the goat that all thought ate dynamite

Just me- the only good goat experience
I've had was when it was on my plate.
Goat is some good eating.
Horses are a money pit unless you
can use them daily on a ranch.  Daily
