It was a few years ago, when I helped our town historian set up a display at the county fair. Bill was meticulous. I say was, because Bill is gone now.
Anyway, the display featured photos of schools located in the county, and class photos from the 1920s through the 1950s.
After setting up the display, I couldn't help but notice... Unlike today, truly obese students were quite rare in those days.
I graduated high school in 1954, among a class of 96, I remember only one classmate (a girl), who would be considered obese.
Strange, what has .. Junk food? little labor? Sedentary living? Too much electronics?
It can't be genes, because for the most part, they are the grandchildren of those who attended school in the 1950s.
Now, don't confuse the reunion photos with the student photos..weight changes over the years.
