.243 Remington 788
« on: May 28, 2021, 01:23:09 AM »
If my memory serves me correctly, this is the first Remington 788 I ever owned. This gun has been owned by my 3 dearest friends since the late 1980's, sadly they have all passed. Words can't describe how happy I am to have this gun back, but thinking about my 3 friends being gone makes it an awful bittersweet purchase. All taken way too soon.

I was going to post a pic of the savage ml 2 my friend left me but don’t know how. Cool gun but I’d rather he were still around...

I've owned quite a few 788's, but I only have two now.  One is in .243 Win., the other is in .222 Remington...

No question, they are pretty good shooters and were reasonable priced, when new.

I've had quite a few as well, but only had a .222 till this one came back home last night. I recall this one shooting pretty good. but not sure how good. Most I've had have been 243 / 6mm and they all shot exceptionally well.

This one has almost a blonde looking stock. Dad picked it up somewhere used and I remember asking him if it came with a matching purse. I got stuck with it in some kinda trade, and a couple years later I returned the favor  ;D. Dad sold it to a buddy of mine who was killed in a tragic accident a short time later. My buddies brother ( the third dear friend) ended up with it. He passed last October at 56 from cancer. Tuesday marked 1 year since my Dad passed. When my buddies Mom called me Thursday and asked if I wanted to buy it, I was there in 5 minutes.
