I provided my usual Memorial Day address for 2 local communities. Attendance down a bit, to 200-300 people each. I guess many have taken the opportunity to break out from Covid incarceration...and travel..
Nevertheless; it was an enthusiastic crowd. I spoke the first half, observing the respect we hold for those who paid the ultimate price.
The second half, I announced that I was speaking as the local Chaplain. I spoke quite directly to the present restrictive government we are saddled with.
Then I outlined how our country has ignored God, and sunk to the present level of sin and misdirection we presently find ourselves in. I then gave a call to return to God, the Bible and traditional values.
The following applause and personal thanks were greater than most other years.
As fellow Legionaires were picking up the PA equipment, the podium, flags and rifles..I said to the post
Commander; "Well Steve; it's possible that I may have stepped on some toes today"!
He replied.."Well, they will just have to keep their toes out of the way"! We both chuckled...
