Reloading Supplies
« on: June 09, 2021, 11:50:16 AM »
Been seeing quite a bit more powders hitting the shelves here in middle GA lately. Problem is, they're going for $45 to $50 bucks a pound. I can't force myself to pay that and hope nobody else will either. That could easily be the new norm if they can stand on those prices.

I agree. Just like lumber prices. I only buy what I absolutely need. If others did the same the supply and demand madness would end...

There are a lot of folks in my area that
seem to want to buy scarce things just
for the halibut.  I see a bunch that will
pay whatever it takes to have something
that is hard to obtain I would guess just
for the bragging rights.
I set my limits for reloading components
quite a long time ago, and if things don't
improve, I'll find enough stuff to load
the brass I've got, and shoot enough to
stay sharp and check scope zero and to
hunt with. All my extra reloading stuff
will go up for sale.
FWIW I've known several men that
only hunted and would buy 2 boxes
of rifle ammo every year, check zero
with one box or part of a box, and
they didn't have any problems
filling freezer bags
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

My Grandfather would take a beating for wasting ammo, so, I understand the two box a year mentality. There weren’t many deer back then. Lots of small game for dinner, supper or however ya want to name a time to eat. if ya have something to eat...

In my grandpa's and father's time,
they could buy shells from the
dry goods store by the piece.

And it was pretty much the same
in East Texas back in their day.
Deer were all but nonexistant.
TPWD stocked the countryside
with trapped deer from around
Llano. Roughly 5000 over decades

My neighbor just put a big addition on her house. She told me that the spike in lumber prices added $50,000 to the original quote. As she was telling me this I was thinking who in their right mind would tell the contractor to start the job? She made it this far with the original size house, why not wait it out? Until idiots like that stop paying the ridiculous prices for lumber the prices will continue to stay ridiculous. I'd like to build a small pole barn for my tractor implements but it can wait until the price of lumber comes down.

You can pretty much replace the word
"Lumber " with about anything else

That's crazy
It hasn't been that long ago
that you could get a couple of
sheets of quality plywood for
that and get change back
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
