I got the chance to shoot for an hour late today! 100 yds, wind 0-10 mph, had to wait between shots for the best wind conditions (not a bad idea anyway! :-)
I made 5 each of 7 different loads with W296, one middle range load I made 10 of to get the scope on the paper. It was very rewarding. Interesting to note that this load group shown is 0.2 gr less than Sierra's
listed max. and that all the other loads in the trial grouped 1 1/2 to 3". The dark squares at 1", the smaller ones 1/2"
Load is: Sierra 40gr .224 Hornet bullet over 11.1gr Winchester 296, Winchester brass
This is 4 rounds grouped at 1", with 3 at 1/2"
Scope is a Bushnell 4-12x40AO (an OLD one from SWFA, NIB!), set at 12x.
