I hope all the police resign there and move to a city they are appreciated. Portland has been a crap hole for years, now it will turn into a bigger one.

Oregon is a "Blue" state. With pockets of low population density rural areas and large high density cities. Like other states so configured, the blue, high density, parts control the government.

What I never have understood is how conservatives like us end up being "red" like the Comunists and liberals, who are closer to Comunists in their thinking, end up being blue. Just baffles me.

If you think about it, we conservatives should be more in favor of fewer police. The more law enforcement there is, the more opportunities and need to find something to do to occupy their time and to justify their jobs. Until recently, it always seemed to me that democrats wanted more laws and law enforcement which generated more control and interference in our individual lives. Right now it seems the roles of the parties have reversed. How did that happen?
