Geez-The Elk will shedding there horns soon.I will be out and about tryin to find a few and bugleing all the way. Before you ask,yes they do respond year around.Just not the mad Bull response, more of the chirp, squeel affect. The cow's make noise all year too.It is just a fun time for us,just to be out and around them. And the deer find it interesting at the least.Have called more than one deer in with a cow call in the off season.

Best of luck.Jayco.

Bestlever-Most people don't even try to bugle or cow call out of the rut.I alway's have starting out just to irritate the dog's but finding out that a whole bunch of critter's including Elk respond year around.Deer especially with there natural curiosity seem to really like it.I have also gotten Wolves to respond on the South Fork of the Salmon River with there howling.Kinda spooky tho, made me look for the pick-up.

My cow call is Wayne Carlton's "Cow Talk".It looks like some coyote calls I have made with rubber bands.Sure works tho.

Best of luck.Jayco.

Am I within 200 miles of you? What part of Southern Oregon are we talking about?
I use any excuse to get out and do a little shooting. Scouting, is as good as anything!
I'm supposed to get to the Lakeview area later this year on business, so maybe I'll take some firepower along, and do some scouting too!
Ballard, the great American Rifles!
