Is $275 too much for ultra 25/06?
« on: March 08, 2004, 03:37:18 PM »
It's the only one I have found so far. The dealer actually is asking $299 but I talked him down to $275 out the door. No other ultras in this cal. to be found so far in Okla. and I have traveled most of the state. One place has said that they are on order and they will call as soon as they have some,  but all others have said that they cannot be gotten right away due to the demand for this gun. What do ya'll think? Do I wait or go for this one now?

Paid $260. plus 5% tax for mine last spring at my dealer. He has not been able to get another since then and he has tried. Doesn't sound too bad. Dealer I visit in Tennessee hasn't had in either.

Do both of ya have the 25/06? I found an ultra .243 bull bbl for $246 today. That's more like what I want to pay for the 25/06.

I ordered a 25-06 ultra in January from a local dealer after trying several gun shops.  It took 4 weeks to come in and I paid $239.00 plus 6% PA tax. I'm waiting for a scope to return from repair so that I can shoot it.  I bought it for my grandson to use for deer.  I will be loading 100 grain bullets in it if it shoots them well.

In PA. I paid $239.00 for Ultra Varmint in January. I don't know if the 25-06 would run higher.

$275 is a little on the high end of the price range.  Why don't you buy the UV243 and send it in for the 25-06 barrel?  One can never have too many barrels for their H&R.

Waite a minute guys, lik2hunt said $275  out the door so I assume this means including taxes, background check, paper work etc.  If that is the case it sounds pretty fair.  Yes?

That is exactly what I paid for mine about two years ago.

You are correct, they are hard to find in Oklahoma.  I found mine in a gun shop in Edmond after calling just about everywhere.

I say buy it.

Mine is a 25-06 Ultra with the Cinnamon laminate stock. The $260 plus 5% SC tax was out the door. We don't have to pay for background checks or paperwork here. In fact, if you have a concealed carry permit they don't have to call in for the background check. Take the gun with you same day. Back on the subject, sounds reasonable from what I have seen them offered for.

Well I'm gonna go see about getting it tomorrow. I originally offered him $265 and he said $275 was the lowest he could go but if he will split the difference with me I'm outa there with a new gun. Heck even if he don't I'm probably still gonna get it. I'll post some range reports after I get get it scoped and all. Thanks for all the info and advice guys.

P.S. Specklebelly :D  where ya at in OK? I'm down on Lake Texoma.

Just pay the $275.00 We want all the little guns shops to stay in business, so don't look at it like saving $10.00 bucks, look at is as your contribution to someone selling stuff we like to buy.

Specklebelly - Wow! I go through Yukon every Thursday on my way to El Reno to deliver fenders to the trailer manufacturer there. Been stopping in at the Wally World there on I-40 and found some great deals on Tink's #69. Gonna stop in tomorrow and see about a 3-9x40 Bushnell Banner that I saw there a while back. Maybe we could get together for a cup of coffee some time.  :D
