Ginger for Migraines
« on: August 13, 2021, 05:17:39 AM »
After 15 years of post IED TBI migraines, I've been through all manner of meds. They recently sent me to a new neurologist who put me on a plan that would include a steadily increasing daily dose of amitriptyline, plus a different -triptan for early onset. I tried for a week, and hated how I felt.

Long story short, I'm now on a daily dose of dried ginger powder; no migraines so far for a few weeks. And in a clinical study, they found ginger 1/8 tsp was as effective as immitrex/sumitriptan (my EDC med) for early onset. No side effects, all natural, and all the collateral benefits of ginger. Recommended dose is 250mg, but best I found was 500mg in vegan capsules. When we set up our garden next year, we'll be raising ginger.

My wife is going to call our daughter and see if she's tried that.
If not we're gonna order some capsules of it.

It does work for sea sickness.  Drink Canada Dry ginger ale when out seafishing.  It uses real ginger, others don't.  Then eat ginger snap cookies made with real ginger.  Really helps with sea sickness.  Check the labels on what you buy and only use real ginger products.  Artificial don't get it.
