Traded for a Kimber K6 357 mag revolver
« on: November 02, 2021, 01:40:27 PM »
Has the stainless 3” barrel. 6 shot, but liter than my S&W model 64. Or Ruger SP101 in 357 mag.

I just shot it with some old federal 38 special +P 158 gr HPNyclad ammo. I don’t believe I want to shoot the magnums. Now to find some 38spl 125 gr jacketed hollow point.

I had the 3" hammer version. If I could have found some rubber grips I'd  kept it.  125 grain 357 magnums were brutal.

Excellent sights, really slick trigger.

This one is 3” barrel. And exposed hammer. It came with wood grips but I bought a hogue rubber grip and put it on. It does have a wonderful trigger.

That's the model I had. When I bought mine, there weren't any after market grips for it. Had there been I still be carrying it. I carry hot 125 grain 357s and my antique hands couldn't take the recoil anymore.
With my 686 Smith it ain't a problem.  You've got yourself a really nice pistol.

I keep looking at those K6's seem so very nice.  Have a 2.25 101 and won a Taurus 2" 85 357 - That 85 is rough  w full 158 357 - even stings a bit wi 38 full power, the 101 a little less brutal.  I like some Win 145 gr silver tips I still have.  Or medium power 140 gr loads I build.

I've polished out the finish to a nickel like finish, changed the grips, slicked up the action, and installed an extra length firing pin.
The 125 grain jhps I carry make the 158 grainers seem pretty tame, but the 686 4 inch calms the recoil down from painful, to very comfortable.
I started wearing suspenders years ago  so with those, a Dillon gun belt, and one of my own holsters, it carries comfortable all day, and hides pretty easily.

If I had an RG Rhome revolver of any caliber I'd throw it in the deepest abandoned well I could find.
I worked two accidental deaths involving those junk pistols. One a 15 year old, and one a 28 year old.
Both were accidentally dropped and hit on the hammer, and both were fatal. The hammer block safety is made out of pot metal, and some don't even have a drop safety.

Well I don't carry it.
I had it for a decade before I
ever put a round through it.
It's a good shooting gun for
what it is.
Funny part here- I worked with
a man that his father was a
deputy sheriff back in the 50's
and 60's. His dad had passed, and
when he went through his goods
there was a briefcase full of
less than stellar handguns that
were his "throw down " guns.
He'd heard his dad talk about doing
that years back, but never thought
anything about it. I've always
regretted not buying the whole lot
besides the RG and the other one

My 1st year as a rookie I had an old cop tell me to get "a throw down gun". So I did. I rode around with that piece of junk in my war bag for about 2 weeks. I couldn't get it off my mind as to what it was for.
By the end of the 3rd week, that "throw down gun" went into an old abandoned well. The idea of a bad shoot was one thing, but an attempt to cover it up was worse.

bought one in VA when i was stationed there. It would go bang about half the time. Total pos. gave it away a few months later.
