Casting some 32's today..
« on: August 29, 2021, 01:17:49 AM »
New friend if mine is in need!  So last night I pulled out and wiped down three molds. A RCBS 98 sec, RCBS 98 WC & Custom Lyman 311252 HP. Gonna cast up HP & WC with whats in the Lyman pot (10 ish BHN) then recharge with about 15 BHN and cast some SWC bullets then powdercoat.
Knee is really hurtin so this gonna be a sit down operation this AM. Temps crashed yesterday from the high nineties & THICK humidity last week to 70's yesterday and overcast. Today supposed to be less wind calm and 70's as a high so CASTING WEATHER!!!

What you casting?

I cast my own bullets in the early 90s when I had a NEF 30-30.
My Dad made the mold for me.
If I remember right it cast a 190 grain flatpoint with two grease grooves.
That thing kicked like a mule but was accurate.

I could only make one (1) bullet at a time.  Slow process. :)

You'd better be hoarding lead.
Biden's crime family want to eliminate the sale of lead.

Copper bullets for centerfire seem to be accurate, but the copper bullets for .22lr doesn't group very good.  Like 6" at 50yds.

...some pics.

I have an affinity for WC's!  Shooting a stabilized "ash can" down range, whether through handgun or Handi-rifle is viscerally satisfying.  You intrinsically KNOW at "belly gun distance" that'll leave a mark and sting a mite going through.

My first mold was an aluminum Lee 358-150 single cavity WC.  I still have it, have poured many thousands of WC's with it, and it is still a favorite.
