Back when I was in High School.
« on: August 27, 2021, 10:55:32 AM »
Lets have a little fun with when I was in high school.
Back when i was in High school most of the Boys wore Levi Jeans, white shirts and Huarache Shoes. I never had a pair but I did have the white shirt and Levies the Huarache shoes were way out of my price range. any of you fellows ever had or wore a pair? If you never heard of them you can find them on the net. Then there were the Letter sweaters that if you had earned your letter then you would let your girl friend wear yours. I was out of High school but my future wife was still in High school so I let her wear mine Still have mine but it has shrunk I think ;) any way it don't fit.

I was in high school we all wore jeans..mine were Dickies. Bought them 2-4 inches longer  in the leg and turned that extra up, giving a tall, lighter colored cuff.
Other than that, I wasn't of the "style conscious" crowd.. "farmer" clique, so style did not play a large part in my
life,.., and it still doesn't.  I usually wore a Levi jacket & T-shirt.
My lifelong sweetheart wore either what was called the "full" skirts of the time, e.g. the "poodle skirt" basic design..otherwise jeans, which she filled out just right!

We wore jeans and button shirts tucked in.
The girls wore poodle skirts and v-necked sweaters and those black and white shoes.
The girls were required to wear those skirts or dresses until the temperature got below freezing and then they could wear dark colored slacks that were loose fitting.

I wore levis, t-shirts till cold weather switching to long sleeved western style shirts when cold weather arrived, and back to t-shirts when it warmed up in the spring. I never heard of those shoes. Most of us wore cowboy boots. Girls wore mostly skirts and blouses but sometimes slacks and even jeans. There was no dress code but no female ever came to school in shorts. I remember one guy that showed up with a beard the first day of senior year. He make it about five minutes before he was sent home to shave.

A majority of us wore wranglers, button down western shirts, polos or pocket T's and cowboy boots. Most of the girls wore jeans of different types and not very many of them wore dresses on a regular basis. Shorts of any kind were not allowed for either sex except of course for PE.

YES!  I should have mentioned her "saddle shoes", could be brown or black saddles..what the local General store carried...

..And no shorts, other than for gym....or around home, of course..

How the heck you guys remember what you wore in high school? I don't remember what I wore yesterday.

But then I have never been very fashion conscious. I wore whatever shoes and clothes my parents brought home and told me to wear. I had no input whatsoever on what I wore. I have zero recollection of what they were almost 60 years after graduation.

SEARS WRANGLERS were the cheapest jeans so that's what I got when I got NEW pants, I had older cousins so got their hand me downs and thankful for them. They were a treat, always looked forward to their out grown  clothes. Shoes were whatever my cousins outgrew usually or whatever was cheap. CHARLIE.  ;D

My dad bought me a pair of boots before I could walk. They kept buying me boots, and I kept wearin'em.
In school I wore Nocona boots, and Lee Rider jeans into high school.
After high school I switched over to Tony Lama boot, and Wrangler jeans. Today I wear Tony Lama boots, Wrangler jeans, and a Smith.   8)

I switched to Wrangler slims in the '90's and only wear one size larger than back then. I bought a pair of Tony Lama boots a long time ago in the early '70's. They didn't last nearly as long as the Naconas I had been wearing and I never bought another pair of Tony Lama boots until a couple of years ago. These are doing well. These in ostrich and a couple of pairs of Cow Town shark skin boots that I have had for years should see me thru my need for cowboy boots. I only wear them in winter now and opt for something cooler in summer.

My boot selection now. Leather danners that failed me and leaked in the first year. Maybe not there fault. Muck boots. Need to get a larger size. And Mickey Mouse boots. Otherwise I wear teneshoes, misspelled I know, for comfort. I also have dress shoes that I wear for funerals. Don’t look forward to wearing those, they have had a bit of use lately.

In HS, i wore Chinos, a white button down collar shirt, dark socks and cordovan shoes. When i got home, i changed to blue jeans and either a T shirt or a flannel shirt and sneakers.
When I was teaching, I wore .chinos, button down shirt, dark shoes.
The young men in HS, many of them, wore jeans, a flannel shirt of some sort, a baseball cap and unlaced workboots.

Honestly my Tony Lamas aren't taken out of the closet except for special trips to town, or special occasions anymore.
I wear those really soft moccasins with cleat type soles the younger more stylish buckeroos wear. They cost almost as much as a good pair of boots, but damn they're comfortable, look pretty good, and really last.
The wranglers are still pretty standard, unless I put on overalls.

I don't know where Dee gets his but Mason shoes list them in their Catalog but I have never bought any and they may be much different than what Dee uses.
