I have one in 8-mm,it has the large ring. I was told by someone that it has the 93 style barrel on them. Is this true? Can the ring be cut out and threaded for a 98 barrel, thinking of having it rebarrel to a 280 Rem.  Zeak

Zeak:  that is a real technical question - please repost that in the Gunsmithing forum two doors up the street - I think you might get a better response there.  HTH.  Mikey.

The Turks are generally a large ring, small thread action.  They can be rebarreled to 270, 280, 30-06 without any trouble by getting the right barrel.  If the gunsmith is starting with a blank he just threads it to the smaller size.  If you are ordering a barrel just order the right size.  Some companies are hesitant to send out small thread barrels in the more potent calibers for fear that someone will screw them into a 93 or 95 actions and bad things could happen.  Just make sure they understand you are having it installed on a turk and should have no problems.
