Youtube find

The music in modern America for the most part does not appeal to me.I seldom listen to the radio anymore because of it. Thank goodness for the internet. Most of my you tube surfing is looking for classic music. Be it Country, Rock or Pop.

Another plus is the musicians you find that otherwise you would never get a chance to hear. And there are many of them.
I ran across a guitar player, I believe on FB, and then went to his web page on youtube and really enjoy his styles of playing. Both acoustic and electric. Check him out. His name is Jimmy Wooten. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2K5hzGrcJo

Very nice to hear good music no screaming no yelling just playing. There are I would say thousands of good entertainers who really never got a chance. Most of the ones today were at the right time and place and got signed to a contract. I Graduated high school in 1951 and I had taken a carpenter class for the 3 years of high school and there was a fellow name Bobby Thompson in my class who had a small band and tried and tried to break in to the music industry. I think he finally got signed for a couple of shows on the old Hoffman hay ride always wondered where he went from there.

There were many like him. When I was working as a DJ back in the mid 60's to early 70's, I listened to records brought into our station to be played. Records by local people. Some good, some bad and some really good. We played the really good ones and one that even made it to a major label. Guy by the name of Jim White. He recorded on Columbia label as Jim Mundy. Jim and I played some local places together, and recorded some radio jingles. He had some success. Here's one he and others did.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5GmfAum9og Another that comes to mind was Truman Lankford. Truman had more success as a writer. These guys were from the NW Arkansas area.

Are you in Arkansas ,born there? I was born at Mount Holley lived around Eldorado till folks moved to California to work in the ship yards during the war. I still have some cousins at Eldorado. I noticed that Lefty and David Frizzell were from Eldorado Lot of Jones in my family. There is a song writer that is from Arkansas, David Lynn Jones, Haggard recorded some of them. When times were good and you were mine is one of them. when I was in my early tens I was a big fan of  Slim Wittman.

Yea! Born in Pine Bluff. I didn't stay long after getting out of the Army. It went from a great town, to a Hell hole. Spent a few years working radio in the Fayetteville Ar area. We moved to Oregon, were I live now. I do still miss the Ozark region.

Slim Whitman was an ealry favorite of mine also. Indian Love call, and the flip side, China Doll were my favorite songs by him. He lost popularity here, but was a a favorite for many years in England.
