A regular musical travelogue...
« on: November 18, 2021, 11:17:33 AM »
.
When I was serving overseas, I served with a friend named Marty Isaacs, from Kentucky.  Marty had a band, and they played regularly in German clubs, as well as military base clubs.
Marty had a voice and style very much like Jim Reeves, and although he had an Air Force guy in his band, who both looked and sounded like Johnny Cash, Marty always did this song by himself.  Perhaps it was because he got all the town/city names correct!  ;)  ;D
The song was popular with the troops, I guess since a number of home towns were mentioned..and most troops were well travelled !
Johnnie Cash..with the song.. see towns listed...    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov4epAJRPMw

I like Johnny Cash but Hank Snow was better on this one.

I liked Hank on that one also.  I actually had Hank's LP record while I was overseas..
