Well, Mr. Greenspan has again stated the obvious; Social Security will soon be running up against the baby boom retirement bomb.  This is not news.

My thought on this matter is that the Democrats are always quick to take full credit for the Social Security program and deservedly so, but I believe it should be on them to come up with the way to fix it.  The Republicans should not have to take the political heat that is sure to come, when this mudhole is filled.

Q: Which party took Social Security from an independent fund and put it in the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratic-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which party put a tax on Social Security?

A: The Democratic party.

Q: Which party increased the tax on Social Security?

A: The Democratic Party with Al Gore casting the deciding vote.

Q: Which party decided to give Social Security money to immigrants?

A: That's right, immigrants moved into this country and at 65 got SSI and Social Security.   The Democratic Party gave that to them although they never paid a dime into it.

Then, after doing all this, the Democrats turn around and tell you the Republicans want to take your Social Security.   And the worst part about it is, people believe it!

Now Retired  :D

Well in my working years I paid in enuff to last me a life time so it had better not run out.  At the rate they give it back to me each month there should be plenty left when am gone.  :-)

If it runs out before I am gone (will be to old to woooork) I guess I will just have to search out some other program to live on.  Think there are a whole bunch of people living off other programs that aren't retirment age yet. (know what I mean)

Oh I forgot to say:
Mr. Greenman call talk all he wants about  Social Security as the old man that he is and all the money he has he don't need any Social Security so it won't hunt him if the do away it or cut back on the payments.
Happy shooting, may you hit what you aim at.

Amen to that Mr. Major, the Demorats fouled up the system and now want to blame the republicans.
Also our legislators set up a different retirement program for themselves, social security wasn't good enough for them, they can draw their full salary when they retire, until their death.  They need to live under the same system that the taxpayers have to live with.

Can you imagine what a difference there would be in this country if the legislators did indeed have to live under the same system?
