Where is our ammunition???
« on: November 26, 2021, 09:41:09 AM »
I am sure this topic has been discussed many times but it is an important topic.  I also agree with others here that there isn't enough discussion about topics such as guns, ammunition, hunting, etc., and too much about current events and politics.  It's all important, and keep posting, but where are the other guys?  It's deer season here in Michigan.  I'm unable to get out but I sure do enjoy a good hunting story, successful or not.

Hunting season is also a good time to review firearms and ammunition that might be of interest, and sighting in that once a year rifle.   Ammunition is still very difficult to come by and the prices are absolutely shameful.  All I see are reports that it's coming back, really? where?  I did a search online the other day and found some ammunition.  It was in Canada.  They are not allowed to ship outside their country.  The same ammunition is out of stock at every site I looked at the in the U.S., and at least double the price.  Even components for reloading are disappearing.  It seems they don't have to take away the guns after all. That's a topic of discussion that shouldn't be ignored.  Time will tell.  With our track record as concerned citizens, I am very concerned.  We might want to start focusing.

Good luck to all the deer hunters out there.  Everyone have a joyful Christmas and may God bless you and yours.

Wouldn't Talkin about The Lack of Factory Ammo, and the Nonexistent Reloading Components.......Be Talkin about 'Current Events'?

Best thing to do about ammo right now is to get a green laser bore siter.  I have a SiteLite brand.  You can see it in broad daylight at 100 yards on the target.  Get your scope or iron sights sighted in properly without firing a shot.  Then use your ammo to hunt.

Alternatives, get a bow, any kind with arrows and practice.  A crossbow will shoot like a rifle.  At least you can hunt out to 50 yards.

There is a plentiful supply of ammo out there but prices are absolutely insane on most of it. I get almost daily e-mails from online retailers of ammo and mostly the prices are double to triple what it was before the plandemic.

But some places are getting almost back to pre plandemic prices, likely as close was we'll ever see again in fact. I see 50 round boxes of CCI aluminum case 9mm 115/124 FMJ. I think it's Natchez that is selling it within a buck or two a box of pre plandemic prices.

I am also getting plenty of e-mails offering case lot quantities which tells me there is no shortage of ammo but mostly those folks are well above pre plandemic prices.

What you can seem to get other than on Gun Broker and such is primers and powder tho I have gotten some powder in. It wasn't the exact powder I wanted but it was powder that fits the same nitch so will do fine for me. Primers tho, what ya got is all ya gonna get unless you want to pay Gun Broker prices.

I was about to buy a new 9mm handgun but when they said they didn't have any ammo, I opted out.
I already have a lot of 9mm ammo. So I don't want to use it up due to lack of reloading supply's.

Like Graybeard I get e-mails about ammo on sale. On sale my happy hind end although prices seem to be dropping a tiny bit. There is some trickling thru in the stores here but still expensive and it is hit and miss. From reading on some other forums apparently the large cities have a much better supply and prices than we folks that live out in the sticks.

Reloading supplies are somewhere other than here.

I saw a bunch of powder ($50 a #) now that is a jump as I’ve been seeing it for $30 to$40 and primers from between $11 and $14 a 100. Phew.

I haven't been specifically looking
for ammunition, but every now and
then when I have to go to the bad
place, I go by the outdoor section
and gaze.
The last trip by, the ammo cases
were 3/4 + full, and there were
about half the guns they usually have.
About normal for a month into gun season
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

mine too and right up here where upguy lives. I learned my lesson years ago and wont get caught again with my pants down. I just dont understand the reasoning in being a gun guy and not having a supply of ammo for those guns. I do know theres many up here struggling to find ammo for deer season. Heck ive set up a few family members myself. But ive given them my last lecture. Last year the same ones didnt have any an i gave them a box or two and they shot it all up knowing i had more. Told them this year that they had better make a priority out of buying some this year even if it is 50 bucks a box. To easy to go to Lloyds house and pick up a few boxes free.
