I can see it happening here unless we all grow a set and fight back.
Don't look for anybody in this country
to take action until the goods and the
freebies go away.
Someone was yapping at me about that
the other day with the usual-
" I'll steal and kill whoever I have to kill
to feed my kids, blah blah blah. . "
I was like- " why wouldn't you go to a
church or a food bank or a social
services organization before you'd
resort to crime ?"
" That's what they're in place for,
to help families and children, not
for lazy career welfare recipients "
They were like " mumble mumble
grumble grumble "
My neighbor who owns multiple properties and a business goes to get free food.
Yes Mule; that is a sad situation. We have a food giveaway at our church on Sundays after services, and it is clear in some cases, that some are not in real need. I sometimes feel a bit negative..but then I realize that some are in genuine need, and kids may suffer if it were not there.
There are some that are in real need..and among them, some kids will be getting an improved diet....and they can't help how their parents perform.
Actually, much of that food is nearing its expiration date, and would in a few days, have to be tossed anyway, so at least somebody gets some use out of it.
Across the street from my son's house, is a little brick church, which has a sharing/blessing box out front. It is a 2 compartment box with a clear windows front.
We can observe the box and it's activity at all times if we wish, from first or second floor (office) windows.
The view tells us much about the state of mankind in a small commiunity today. People stop by there to donate, as well as others stop to pick up.
There is a house up the street where there is an extended family, we privately call it the "fat house", simply because everyone there is obese. A couple times a day a woman makes the trip down to the blessing box, to see what is new. The irony is..she is 'poor', but is carrying a $1K cell phone and smoking cigarettes all the way..
We just keep in mind..there are a couple kids in that house also.
The same folks show up at our food giveaway on Sunday after church..but never bother to attend any services, but still they are welcome to do so. The Lord waited many years for some of us to come around too !
Some strange things observed across the street at the blessing ...
A) Some folks in a beat up old Ford, stop by and donate into the box...followed by some folks in a late model
Lincoln, follow behind to pick up. I like to thing somebody was picking up for a needy neighbor..
About 2 weeks ago a couple young men , maybe 19-20 years old, came along with a hand wagon and some boxes...and cleaned the whole thing out
??
Whatever the case..I can't see the giveaways as doing any harm...and they may just be filling some hungry juvenile tummies..
