Sure wish I had a best method. Mine all yield varying results.

My method has never failed me.
Pour a tablespoon of salt into the pan, put in the eggs, put in several ice cubes, then cover the eggs with cold water.
When the water comes to a boil, set the timer for ten minutes.
Then, pour out the hot water and rinse with cold tap water until you can handle the eggs without burning you.
Crack the shells starting at the pointy end and they will peel easily.

The only difference in my method is I just add cold water without emptying the pan. After it runs over a little while, I let the eggs sit in the pan full of water for a while, then I let them dry while on a towel.

my...hard boiled eggs..  How many ways have I tried?  Most came out OK..some were a mess..

One trick I learned on peeling them.  Crack the shell on a counter top..then roll egg back & forth.
This breaks the shell into tiny pieces..which seem to peel right off..

I don't have the problems with my
eggs that other people do
I put tap water in a pan,  put my
eggs in, put the pan on the stove,
turn on the gas and bring to a boil
Once they hit a rolling boil, ( about
5-6 minutes) I cut back the heat to
a bubble and they go for about
10 minutes. Turn off the gas and
cool.  I either peel and use or put
the now cooled eggs in the refrigerator
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Instapot, period.  They peel easily every single time and are cooked perfectly.  Although I do soft boiled more often, again - perfect in Instapot..
