kind of somber Christmas
« on: December 25, 2021, 10:20:15 PM »
Dad died about 3 weeks ago and we loaded ma in the car and my sisters and husbands and myself and my wife took ma to church. There was only about 30 other people there. Came home and had turkey but i dont think ma smiled even once the whole day. Dads recliner sat empty because nobody would sit in it. His wallet and hearing aids still sitting there on the end table. Just wasnt the same.

My dad died on October 21 15 years ago. My mother died on October 20 last year.
Family members have moved on as they should. Thanksgiving doesn't as much as Christmas, give me a lonesome feeling in my heart.
Its gets easier with time Lloyd. Most of the time.

For me it’s when I’m hunting that it’s the hardest. My dad passed some years back right before Christmas. My stepdad died right before thanksgiving a couple years back. We were close. He put his ass on the line for me on a few occasions and helped me in many ways.

My family is scattered all over the country so is my girlfriends. So it was only her and me, but we did ok. I lost a 17 year old cousin to cancer a month ago. His father died from the very same thing.

Lost both my mom and dad this past year. So this was the first Christmas spent without them. They were greatly missed for sure, which added some sadness, but something that I still have is all the awesome memories of mom and dad, and what they meant to me.  The hardest thing for me is walking into their empty house, and not having mom greet me at the door with a hug. Which is what she did all the time, every time.  I was certainly blessed to have them as a mom and dad.

I had super parents.
Mothers day and Fathers day are the hardest for me.
I can't pick up the phone and call them.

The sadness never ends, but I have great memories to ease it.

Its hard Lloyd, my prayers for you.

My Dad died approx. 3 weeks before Christmas 21 years ago and when I had to unwrap the Christmas gifts I had wrapped for him, it hit me very hard.
Godspeed.

Sorry too all your stories of this Holiday
The joy is sadly leaving around here, thought I was the loner with the heart felt situation.
I hope and pray you all keep your health and some of the sorrow pass's.
