Went to mas to help organize dads funeral yesterday. Brought home my glock 43 that dad had borrowed about 5 years ago for home defense. Asked ma if she wanted it and she said no.

My condolences on the loss of your dad, even though it was yours to begin with it should still offer up some nice memories in the future.

i wont. That one will stay with me. He also had my 308 kimber montana. He shot his last buck an 8 pointer with it last year. He fell in love with that gun 3 years ago so I never asked for it back. It will go today after the funeral to one of my nephews. Ill let ma pick who. Ive got enough rifles and one of them will appreciate it more then me.

It's good you were able to get those back.
My own father passed when I was young,
and the vultures swooped in and picked
over his goods.  I ended up with some of
his things that are sentimental to me,  but
there's a good many that just disappeared.
My grandpa,  his father passed some later,
and all of his goods disappeared.

I dont much care if i get anything of monetary value. Most of his guns i bought for him and the family heirloom ones he already passed down to the nephews he and i decided would be best. So there was only my guns i loned him and his rem 700 muzzle loader and a tc carbine that he promised one of my nephews that again was a gun i gave him. I gave the muzzle loader to another nephew yesterday. I do worry that a couple of my brother in laws that live right near will pick through his tools ect. But then to be honest i dont need them anyway so let them have at it. The real mess will come when ma dies and everything has to go. Two of my sisters dont trust each other and there was even some friction over dad. But again i dont care. Ive always tod dad to spend his money because i sure dont need it and neither do my sisters. But he was a tight sob that hated to part with a penny. That bank book sure isnt worth a pinch of crap to him now in heaven. I got all i wanted and more yesterday. My learning disabled son made him a wood box and wood burned pictures of deer and bear on it and in his will he said he wanted his ashes to be buried in it. I didnt know anything about it. My ma brought it up. To see my sons face light up when he saw that box up front in the church yesterday was worth more then anything of value to me. Im not much of a crier. I can probably count the times in my life when i teared up on my fingers but when he saw that i have to admit the tears were flowing.

Godspeed Lloyd:
 My father only had a couple of guns, a Crescent  double barrel shot gun, a single barrel shotgun, I prepped up in gunsmith school and two 22s, one a single shot Remington and the other one he won at a Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing drawing, a Steven model 87 semi-auto.

I wish I had take better care of the double barrel, but I used the Stevens for decades, love that gun.
