Anybody here go for Lowe's military 10% discount?
« on: January 10, 2022, 04:09:00 PM »
.
If you did, i hope you had better luck than I did!

First, I went to the store and asked to ..."Oh, we can't do that here sir!  You have to call this phone number."
the young lady hands me a slip of paper with a phone number.

Next day I call that number...." Sir, we can't do that either..go to this website" ...she rattles off a web address.

OK..so I try that web address... may as well have tried playing e-mail games with Kim Jung Un..

Finally gave up out of frustration..   So Lowes gets a bit less of my business.  ..Don't know why they can't do that in the store, just by showing them my DD214 ?

In fact, by showing my DD214, my driver's license is now a veteran's ID for most practical purposes..

Perhaps Home Depot will launch a reasonable program..although i heard HD has one, but at  the disgression of each store manager..don't know for sure though, haven't found it around here.

when i did it i did it at the store and just had to show them my drivers license and DAV id card. Things must have changed. Now the discount is applied automaticaly when i use a credit card at the store or order on line.

Many years ago I created an account with one of their cards (rewards not credit), then went to the customer service counter for them to add my military discount by showing my retired Id.  Each purchase I just scanned the barcode and it gave me the discount.  They used to be able to manually do it at the check-out, but stopped it because they noticed an uptick in people getting discounts, many of whom never served.  Home Depot, back then, didn't do the discount at all, but now will, each time having to show your Id.

I don't see that happening at HDs around here, unless it started just recently...
