I have been to the Ellendale , Minn. meat market and have had Drummond's frp, Mich. and the Cobb Smoked out of New Hampshire from my buying meat on-line out of curiosity.

Not a connoisseur of bacon and my wife says she never met a piece of bacon she did not like, I disagree. Indiana kitchen is one I like and Aldi’s has another that is good. I want mine smoked... Sorry. Best I could do. Great article. Made my heart hurt reading about all that wonderful bacon.

I would put Nueske's as hands down the best bacon in Wisconsin and would put it up against any other states best.  Not cheap, even before this recent inflation but sooo damn good it's worth it once in a while.  Most quality burger and breakfast joints in Wisconsin highlight Nueske's on their menu.

Darn, I used to get down that way multiple times a year but have not in almost a decade; thanks, gives me a reason for a road-trip. 8)

I checked out Oscar but even though it is winter, and stuff freezes they will not ship outside of a few state area right now; prices were not bad so maybe if I give them a phone call they will make an exception.

At the prices of meat these days, I am just as pleased that I am no big meat eater.

...And when I do..whether ham or spam, strip steak or tube steak..makes little difference to me.. :D

So, what do you live on? All carbs and sugars?  Meat, it's what's for dinner, lunch and breakfast... Everyday.

I burn out on ham pretty quick. Bacon once or twice a month.
Spam (highly processed meat). Never!

I'm sure "tube steak" up north, must not be what it used to reference down here, so I don't even know what that is.  :-\

Rib eyes, tenderloin, and every now and then brats (another artery clogger).

When I say I am no big meat eater, doesn't mean I eschew meat altogether.  If/when I have meat, a few ounces
will do,.  I don't need a-pound-at-a-time..  Steak..a2"X4" piece half an inch thick will do..hot dog...one will suffice.

What do I have for breakfast?  Usually wheat chex and milk..often with banana or peach slices.  Some days I may whip up a couple eggs with a couple links of pork sausage..or a grilled cheese sandwich with a few pickle slices.

Note:  tube steak = frankfurters  Yes, I eat some processed meats..but then, little of it.

  Lunch..sometimes I do..sometimes I don't..  I will readily admit that I like a good bread and dairy products.

Sweet stuff is a very minor part of my diet.  Dinner (supper) is often a cassarole or similar..coild contain some meat.
I try to use some fruit or veggie at each meal..often we do not get enough plant material...

...Guess we too often let the cows or hjogs, eat our veggies for us ..  ;)  ;D

meat eater here. I doubt ive had supper in 20 years that didnt have some meat in it. About the only meal i make an exception for is breakfast. Monday through friday its an english muffin with peanut butter (has to be crunchy) and home made jam. Weekends its one day bacon one day sausage. Lunch is left over supper usually and that means meat. Id rather be dead then a vegan. Just about to eat some left over scalloped potatoes and ham my wife made for supper last night. honestly if the only veggys i ever ate were potatoes corn peas and beans id be satisfied.

I don't get the vegan thing either...but that is one's own choice.  The few I know (vegetarians), seem to be happy and healthy, but I guess they have to watch their protein closely...plenty of legumes etc.

Those who I know would probably be best described as vegetarian, rather than vegan.  From what I understand, a vegetarian may eat eggs or cheese..or with some..a bite or two of chicken, while a vegan won't touch that list ..

Some time ago, I bought a half dozen of those thin, smoked pork chops and put them in my freezer.  There are 3 left..and I don't know if it will be myself or freezer burn that will claim them first.

My new air fryer helps with single serving menu though..

I pretty much live off of meat. I do the keto thing most of the time.

I am a meat eater, big time, but then I also am very fond of good salads, including just lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese and sun flower seeds, with French Dressing (I also have found meat-less pizza very, very tasty.)
At that I buy and cook steak, hamburger, ham, pork roast, pork chops and chicken in large amounts every year, including spending high buck money for top line steaks at a grocery store or on-line.

The current price of meat though is putting a big crimp on that, I  now just sent an order a six pound standing rib roast on-line from Wholey's, for a little over 100 dollars; it is carry over stock from last year, and when it is gone, new stock will be a lot more expensive.
We used to have quite a bit of bacon in the fridge and freezer, I probably will probably take a trip down to St. James and get a big chunk of bacon,  maybe for the last time this year if prices keep going up.
I wanted to buy some beef ribs and make some beef dumpling soup but the prices for those is insane now.

same here bob. I like to keep a 200lb reserve of burger and at least 30 lbs of bacon. Price have me actually breaking into the stash. I seemed to always run into a deal before and those deals just arent happening anymore. Ive only have about a 100lbs of burger and one 10lb box of bacon left. No crop damage permits this year hurt too. No venison hamburg or steaks and roasts for this year. Ive got enough to from last year to get me through about 6 months but then im stroked. First time in over 10 years that im down to two freezers. Shut down the big 25cf chest freezer last week and am only using my 15cf chest and 17cf upright. Typical year at this time all three are chuck full.
