Been catching a few varmints
since most of the ice melted.
Got one right at dark that was
thrashing around like crazy. I
could hear the chain rattling
and the bucket I had being bounced
around. I thought, what the heck?
I found my headlamp and there
was a varmint sure enough, but
for whatever reason it had lots
of voltage left when I reached for
it. Nearly got scratched. After I
finally got it settled down, I saw
that one of the safety hooks was
holding one of the springs compressed.
I don't know if I neglected to take
it loose when I made the set, or
if it just swiveled around and rehooked
when the trap fired.
Something to watch for and double
check when you make a set
Might have been a problem if it had
been a bigger dangerous varmint.
Of course, when they get trapped, they
all turn into a zombie godzilla bigfoot.
They can tear loose a poorly fastened
trap
