I am old enough to remember steam trains. There was one that followed US 87 which was 7 miles west of our farm. it wasn't quite in the class of those shown in the video though. On a damp day you could hear the whistle blow for the crossing due west of where I lived. It was replaced by a diesel before I got into high school but you could hear the horn just like the whistle. Unlike steam trains, diesels have no soul.
I road the Toltec-Cumbres train once. It made me appreciate why cars and busses were invented.
