Ruidoso is burning

As of an hour ago there is a 15,000 acre uncontained fire going in Gavalin Canyon that has already burned 150 structures and homes and evacuation is on going. If the world wind map is correct the fire will continue down the canyon and into the eastern business section of town.

Seems like it's always somebody
welding or doing a burn pile or
something the officials warn everyone
not to be doing.

Morning update and a correction on the Ruidoso fire. First off the correction. I posted what was show on the internet yesterday early. Later on I got to thinking about the size of the acres burned and decided that had to be wrong as that is a lot of country. We were gone almost all day yesterday but when we got home I checked and found that it was only slightly over 4100 acres and was still burning.

According to one TV station an hour ago the acreage was up to 5300 with one more home burned. It is about 160 miles to Ruidoso as the crow flies and I haven't seen any smoke. The wind is very light this morning so maybe they can get a handle on it today.

I first got wind of it from someone who is living there. And they lost a rental cabin.

According to the "news " I heard
earlier 2 confirmed fatalities and
200 structures burned
