Ford 5.4 engine

Any of you guys have experience with these? Ford 2005 expedition, its big ,but its only going to be a town and back vehicle.

  I only had one 5.4, mine was a gas hog and not what I would call overpowered.  It was in a van and I'm glad it's gone!

Folks are dumping the gas guzzlers at a ridiculous cheap price. $600.00 for a 2012 Ford Mustang GT. What if gas came down again?

Had 5.4s in a couple F350s, underpowered gas guzzlers that have a tendency to blow out spark plugs.

If your 5.4 isn't making tapping ticking
valvetrain noise from the cam phasers
being shot, you should be ok
Otherwise it's an expensive fix.
If you're buying one for practically
nothing, figure the cam phaser repair
into your purchase price to see
if the deal is really a deal

i know they had problems with spark plugs blowing out of the heads and seizing in the heads. Brother in law had to spend 3k just in labor to get one head replaced. I seem to recall him saying that the whole front clip has to be taken off to pull the head.  It was his last ford. If you want a ford v8 pickup id look for a 5.0. that was a good motor.

I’m going to buy a Ford Expedition in good shape runs great for $400.00. They couldn’t afford gas anymore.Heck just park it under the car port so the crooks from the highway (illegals ) think someone is here. And I wouldn’t put even 10 miles on it every day.

Heck my Nissan 4.0 V6 uses more gas than this one does. And no tapping noise.
