SciFi is leading the pack for new movies. I haven't seen any Westerns just yet. The Batman is action, but Jurassic World…Dominion is out. And is doing ok. It’s more like Fiction.  It’s Dinosaur's running amuck in big cities and eating people.Hummm,  set them lose in DC lol. They would spit out Biden and Pelosi.

From what I've seen, in the trailers. There is no way these creatures could survive cold snowy, Arctic conditions like seen in this movie.The producers should have known that.

My wife dragged me out Monday to see the new Top Gun.
We suffered through the previews of sci fi and super heros and cartoon movies and decided that it'll take something special to get us back to the theater.
I will say this about top gun, it was not full of sex and foul mouths like most movies are now.

It's all rather unbelievable, but, fighter pilots are a crazy bunch and having known a few, they have earned the right to be a little crazy and cocky.:)

I'll watch the new Jurassic movie but not until it hits free TV. I like the series of movies and don't worry that it is not very realistic, I'm OK with fiction, whether science fiction or just plan fiction.

I might or might not watch the new Top Gun movie when it hits free TV. That type doesn't do much for me. I did watch the first one, ONCE.

Dunno what new westerns might be coming out, haven't heard. I do like that genre of movie but some just plain suck and I've not seen a new one worth watching in a long time. I know nothing of this Dominion so have no clue but I won't see any of them until they hit free TV.

I will not go to a theater to watch a show nor do I pay to watch them on my TV other than the monthly charge for TV service and I have no premium channels. Free TV works for me, I just record anything I want to watch and fast forward thru commercials.

I still love sitting in a theatre and munching on popcorn and caramels while sucking down Coca Cola, but have not been to a movie since January 2020, even though my home town has bargain theatre where movies cost five bucks or less.

No reason other than I do not think of it till it is too late to go.

  Oh golly...I cannot recall the last movie I went to.. but perhaps it was when my son & grandson persuaded me to go to a local drive-in movie theater to see a film about souped up cars..called "Fast and Furious"..

  I was rather bored by the move..and repelled by the filthy language, which apparently pandered to numbskulls...

  Come to think of it..perhaps the last movie I attended a theater for was Mel Gibson's "The Passion", at it's introduction.

My daughter and son-in-law went to the new jurassic movie. Their take was that it wasn't great. Our local theater had to close on the governor's orders when covid occurred and is still closed and I wouldn't drive out of town to go to a walk-in movie. No matter to me as I can't understand what is being said with all the overpowering sound effects of modern movies. I doubt it will ever reopen as the city funded it and due to some financial misdeeds that no one seems inclined to investigate the town is basically broke. I'll just wait until it's on TV and watch from the comfort of my recliner and understand what is being said using my Sennhiser wireless headphones that allow me to suppress the background racket. If it's a dog I'll just change the channel.

I like to watch old movies. the themes were more realistic and the background noise was more subdued.

Yep, Top Gun was one continuous explosion of sound that drowned out the dialog for my worn out ears.

My son and daughter-in-law went to see Top Gun..primarily I think, because they enjoyed the original.  He is also into SciFi..which I am not.
  Give me non-fiction, or rarely, at least a story written by somebody who at least knows the intricacies of the subject matter he/she is writing about.
  Presently, I am reading a book (fiction) starring a Captain Putnam, (circa 1800-1810) a story in the Horatio Hornblower flavor.  The author, James L Haley, seems to know a great deal of the details of the great age of "Wooden ships and iron men".. So I am learning about such things as setting sails, powder and ball storage, food preservation for sea duty, sea protocols etc...  For instance, I did not know that back then , there were elongated bars, rather than cannon balls..designed to cut down masts, or tear great holes in the sails.
  If you could shred the enemy's sails..that was as good as dismasting him..causing him to be a slow moving target..and possibly surrender.

  We hav eone of theblast drive-in theatres just a few miles from my home..where my son usually goes.

  Frankly, I care for very few current movie crop..besides i can get all I want to see, right in my own home, on my TV...and free of charge.
