Chiropractors Are Rough! Whew!
« on: September 01, 2022, 04:14:57 PM »
I've got several friends about my age, (I know, me have friends?), that swear by their once a month chiropractor visits.
So what tha hell, maybe one can make me more comfortable in my old age. Lets go see one.

The last thing he told me was, "Your gonna be sore tomorrow".

TOMORROW? I'LL BE SORE TOMORROW?

I thought the guy was gonna break me in two. NOW! I'M SORE RIGHT NOW!!! I WAS SORE BEFORE I  GOT  OFF  HIS PARKIN  LOT!
I'm so damn sore I don't know if I can get on a horse in the mornin,, and I've got cattle to move.
I don't even know if I can get in the pickup and drive to the ranch. GOOD GRIEF! :o

Never been to one, don't plan to ever go to one. I consider them to be quacks no matter what the folks who believe in them say.

Never been to one, don't play to ever go to one. I consider them to be quacks no matter what the folks who believe in them say.

I'm completely with you on this.  I never believed in them, and never will. I also have never been to one, and never will go to one.  They make their money by having you come back each month. I hear people say all the time I need to go get adjusted. Or my joints are out of place. I tell them if their joints are out of place they probably need surgery.  Yes they are quacks.

I agree. Never could understand forcing joints that are wore out against each other in ways God didnt intend them to be. My buddy has unrepairable neck damage and lots of back issues too and hes been to MANY doctors and surgeons through the years and his operation list makes my 13 look like having the flu. One thing hes says is universal. The real doctors to a man tell him to RUN not walk away from chiropractors. Same thing every surgeon thats cut on me has said. They may give temporary relief but at the cost of increased damage down the line. Most of them are just a bunch of liberal hippys a notch about the pot store pharmacists. its right up there with letting a phycologist do brain surgery on you. He may even know the brain but he isnt touching mine.

I have a little story for you unbelievers. It's true since it happened to me. In my late teens I was in an accident and sustained a rather hard hit on the head. I didn't see a doctor at the time and the headaches and stiff neck went away after a time. When I was only 26 years old I began to have severe pain in my right hip and leg. I was eating aspirin constantly but it never quit. I hurt all day and night. Constant pain. I finally went to my doctor and he sent me to what was considered to be one of the best orthopedic doctors in the southwest. After x-rays, head manipulation, twisting and pushing down, that really made me hurt, and a neck stretching devise and exercises for several weeks that did nothing his advise was to find a desk job as I was going to be a cripple in a few years and come back for a checkup in three months. I never saw him again.

There was a chiropractor that had set up shop in my town a couple of years before and my wife got after me to go see him. I also saw them as quacks but I finally got to the point I went. He took x-rays and explained them to me in detail showing the problem in my neck and what it was causing on down my back. Like Dee, I HURT after the first adjustment and for days afterward but with each successive adjustment I improved. To make a long story short I never became a cripple and have led an active outdoor life. I still go regularly. Believe what you want. It's not me hurting except when I need another adjustment.

And aside for Lloyd: They don't force joints into ways God didn't intend them to be. They keep the spine aligned like God made it. I have never had spinal surgery and never had a a "real" doctor tell me to run or even stay away from a chiropractor but like I said, believe as you wish.

Oh i will and i will hands down trust an orthopedic surgeon over a chiropractor. thats like taking the advice of a baggage handler over a pilot when the engine goes out.

I'm sure they will tell their patients anything to keep them coming back once a month. I worked with a couple guys that went every month religiously. that wasn't just for a year or so. It was for years. So I'm sure some brain washing is involved to get people to return, and hand over money.

Ya know, I'll bet it is "brain washing". Last night through the soreness I felt compelled to return. I'll bet that conversation me and the chiropractor had concerning the local sheriff, and a city cop we both knew, had coded, subliminal messages in it designed to brain wash me into comin back. I have to go back. I have no choice. ::)

And this is just how stupid a conversation about going to a chiropractor can get, in such a short period of time. Chiropractors are part of a conspiracy group to control our bodies, and currency.  :o

I don't want anybody messing around with my spine or neck aside from a masseuse. For aligning joints, vertebrae, and what not _ _ I think
Yoga is a safer bet.

I have been to a chiropractor twice. In neither case, multiple “treatments”, did it work. Fuhgedaboudit.

about in the same catagory as that "Relief factor" that cures all pain. Take some of that and some of that powdered fruit and veggies and live forever with no pain. Wonder if you can mix them together and snort it for faster results. Marketing for fools with money. Well at least that fruit crap probably wont make you worse or make you keep having to come back for more like a crack addict. Tell you another one that makes me shake my head. Our local VA hospital has an acupuncturist. Talk about a waste of tax payers money.

Well, I didn't become the cripple like the high powered orthopedic guy told me I was going to because of a chiropractor so all you non-believers can go pound sand as far as I'm concerned. It take more than just a couple of trips to start improving. Evidently medicare doesn't see them as quacks because they pay for them just like the orthopedic guys. I know from personal experience what they can do and am done with this subject.

That'll work!

I went to one many years ago, but I didn't get much results as I recall. This trip was a suggestion from a couple a friends, and I told Linda last night, I didn't think I would go back.
I didn't like the way my neck felt, he tried to Crack it from both sides, and it would. It's just now starting to feel normal again.

More exercise I think is what I actually need.

Exercise does work, and helps in many ways. Especially some resistance training. My lower back bothered me for a good while. It even hurt just from riding in a truck or car seat. When I started building my stomach and core muscles. My lower back pain disappeared.

Many times people think they are to old to start any type of resistance training exercise, but it has been proven that it can benefit people even if they start in their 80's.  the reason old people start falling, have trouble walking or doing many everyday tasks is because of muscle loss as we age. Strength training can and does limit that.  I copied and pasted just one paragraph from an article about loss of muscle as we age and the effects. If you google something like "muscle loss with age" There are 100's of articles that basically say the same thing.  As we age muscle and bone density disappear, and the effects from that loss of bone density and muscle can have some pretty bad effects.  So I'm going to guess that some sort of resistance training will help you 10 times more than any chiropractor will.

One of the most striking effects of age is the involuntary loss of muscle mass, strength, and function, termed sarcopenia [1–3]. Muscle mass decreases approximately 3–8% per decade after the age of 30 and this rate of decline is even higher after the age of 60 [4,5]. This involuntary loss of muscle mass, strength, and function is a fundamental cause of and contributor to disability in older people. This is because sarcopenia increases the risks of falls and vulnerability to injury and, consequently, can lead to functional dependence and disability [6,7]. A decrease in muscle mass is also accompanied by a progressive increase in fat mass and consequently changes in body composition, and is associated with an increased incidence of insulin resistance in the elderly [1,4,5,8]. Furthermore, bone density decreases, joint stiffness increases, and there is a small reduction in stature (kyphosis). All these changes have probable implications for several conditions, including type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and osteoporosis.

yup ill eat a Tylenol or advil if im hurting and eat an orange or apple if i want fruit. Veggies? I eat potatoes with my meat. Bottom line with pain i learned over the years is if something short of a full power narcotic doesnt help your pain level isnt bad enough to piss and moan about. Ive lived with pain for over 40 years. I have to say i agree with ddz exercise and staying in shape and working through the pain are probably the best remedies but lately I just cant do it like i used to. Thats where the catch 22 comes in. Since ive stopped working out ive gained 30 lbs and that just makes everything worse. Sad thing is we live in an era of pussys. People want to pill away every little ache and pain.Didnt used to be that way. People were just tougher. That is exactly why bs like relief factor and chiropracters make so much money. They want to convince you you should have NO pain. They want everyone popping there pills while they laugh all the way to the bank. IMO and i know its not worth much if your complaining about back pain and your back isnt so bad off that you NEED surgery you really dont have back problems. So wine to someone else. I KNOW what pain is. ITs when its so bad you look forward to surgery. At least you get a few nights sleep wacked out in the hospital. Every back surgery ive had i felt better two days later even with surgery pain then i did walking into the hospital.

I agree medications are way over prescribed, mainly because there is big money involved.  I do feel for those that do need certain medications, but many medications cause a side effect that they are given another medication for.
I saw it happen with my own two eyes when my wife was in a nursing home. The nursing home doctors prescribed her medications she didn't need. I even requested a different doctor, but got the same results. She was prescribed a fist full of pills that she didn't need, and the nursing home doctors would not remove any of them.
When I got her out of the nursing home, and took her to my family doctor he took away almost all the medications she was given with no ill effects. Most people go to a doctor, and expect a pill for their woes, and they are given one whether they need it or not, because pills are big money for doctors and big pharma.

yup look at a store today. Back in the 60s in the drug section you could probably find bandaids and bayer asprin. Now you go into walmart and theres 3 or 4 isles of pills for sale. billions are made off of convincing people that a pill will cure about anything. Most of it about as effective as what the medicine man carried in his wagon in the 1800s. Sore muscles and back pain back then just meant you actually worked for your money.
yup ill eat a Tylenol or advil if im hurting and eat an orange or apple if i want fruit. Every back surgery ive had i felt better two days later even with surgery pain then i did walking into the hospital.
about in the same catagory as that "Relief factor" that cures all pain.

And that stuff is EXPENSIVE, my wife was going to try some until she saw the cost.

Chiropractors are pretty much worthless imo! I guess they do have some procedures that help, but I see them as over paid masseuses. And the number UNO overpriced medico, is a dog doctor. Vets have a racket like no other in the medical field. It's cheaper to take a child in for a checkup than an animal. They have taken all the medication we used to buy in farm stores, and now made it prescription only. It is a racket.

I still believe in CBD oil. It works for me. Not a Miracle drug but it works. Say whatever you want.
The gummies are worthless.
