This old house..
« on: September 26, 2022, 04:03:07 AM »
When Stu Hamblen wrote that great old song, everyone had to realize that he was talking about his human body, just as Paul and Peter spoke about the "tent" they lived in.

Now that I have reached 86, it bcomes more clear every day.  Neither the electric, gas or plumbing is working up to what it was a few years ago..  ;)  ;D

...Anyone else notice that?  Check out Johnny Cash and the Statler brothers..

Good song. I have always been a Johnny cash fan but will take the second version over his with this particular "ballad". I like a good bass and this guy is great.

Always liked that song..  I also took note of how they staged it in a mock-up set of a barracks scene.  They even had the old butt cans affixed to the posts.
Strange, that they had the bunks about where the center aisle should be, though..

The bunks were fairly well made up, although I doubt a quarter would bounce very high off one of them .  :D

And of course, those beards and haircuts (or lack thereof) would never do... ;D

Still, a great song...because one day, all who have made Jesus the Lord of their life....
will be trading their tent for a mansion..

yup i can relate it to the body. Just came back from the doc. Been having some pretty good back pain lately and the left leg has gone numb. Hes going to get back to me but it looks like back surgery #8 is just around the corner. Heck is been a year since i saw the knife. It wouldnt be a normal year without some kind of surgery.

Little? I wish mine was little. If I can make it two more weeks I'll finally get to see the doc that may be able to do something for it.

Wish I had little pains. Sciatica has been giving me fits all day and last night too. I finally took a real prescription pain pill today and have had the heat pad on it all day when I wasn't in bed.

I get an MRI on the 13th then see the surgeon on the 19th. He will then tell me if he can fix me with a rotator cuff surgery or if he will be replacing the entire shoulder. Either way I'm expecting to get cut on around end of next month or maybe early November.

When my first bout of sciatica hit, Faye had just had cancer surgery. I was supposed to be taking care of her and I couldn't get out of bed. I missed 3 weeks of work and had therapy several times a week. Even when I finally went back to work I could barely get around.

Since then it hits when it wants to and stays as long as it wants. Tonight I'm feeling like maybe tomorrow it will be gone but you can never be sure.

Back in 2016 I had a major nerve issue develop. Where my spinal column comes out of the last bone of the spine there are lots of bone spurs or calcium deposits or whatever is the proper term.

I was in a wheel chair for 2-3 months. They finally did some spinal blocks on me and got me back on my feet. I still have major nerve issues daily.

ive had them removed twice and i think it may be my problem again. doc said its usually form prior damage or bone rubbing on bone and the next time id need another fusion so im not looking forward to this prognosis. Fusion was not fun. I makes a discectomy look like a walk in the park. he said with my two hips, one knee and one ankle being replaced theres just no way other then sitting in the recliner that it isnt going to wear on your spine. my knee was the last one and it was like the ankle much worse then a hip and im sure hobbling around on it for a year did its damage to the back. Seems after every surgury since the 70s ive had i think to myself this one will be the golden one that stops this crap but i guesss now i know better. My back surgeon today is a great guy and a great surgeon. Honest too. He told me a couple years ago to basicaly buck up because with the extent of my injurys i will never be out of pain. He said i had a choice. Deal with it or hed put me on fentanyl patches. So i live with it because id rather have the pain then the way narcotics make me feel. couldnt imagine living my life in that haze. bottom line bill is that if they do surgery you wont be out of pain. Your nerves were probably damaged by now and nerves heal SLOW, like YEARS. If at all. What it will probably do is keep it from getting worse.

You might consider one of those
zero gravity chairs that were popular
a while back.
We got one for a friend of mine who
had an open heart surgery and two
knees replaced and some other something
I can't recall.  He was in a hospital bed
for a long time then his pain was so
unbearable he was exhausted from
lack of sleep. He  had one of those
fully adjustable electric recliners he
was able to get relaxed in, but he
didn't get any real restful sleep until
he got in that gravity chair. I don't
know for sure what benefit it had
except taking the pressure off his
inflamed joints and surgery areas .
No idea what the cost would be or
if they even offer them any more
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .
