Well, I asked my dad, who was under Patton in the 3rd army, an uncle who flew tail gunner on a B-17, and another uncle who was a Marine pilot in the Pacific about their war stories.  Both uncles would talk about it.  My dad had his best friends face blown off relieving Bastone.  He would not watch a war movie.  They all knew about the death camps after invading Germany.  They were shown the films.  They all hated NAZI's after that.  My uncle who fought the Japanese would not buy a Japanese product his entire life. 

War affected these guys.  I also know and was there when we landed on the moon.  I have been to the Cape and have seen rockets and a shuttle launch. 

A lot of useful idiots are coming out of school and college who know nothing.  Flat earthers, moon deniers, Holocaust deniers.  They also think there is extreme racism today.  What a bunch of hogwash. 

The Germans kept meticulous records.  They know how many Jews they killed.  They were all numbered like cattle, worked to death, then executed.

I think such remarks are made in an effort to seem "cavalier" and aloof from such human travertine. They are made from ignorance of finality, and mortality, having been lucky enough to have been isolated from such goings on.

  I know what you are referring to, Billy and will address it...but first let us clear up about Dee going back to work.  There are many reasons why folks go back to work after retirement.  Yes, some need the money, some just want to remain active, and some just want to "get back in the saddle", literally.  I don't think Dee has, or needs to explain his reasons, and we cannot simply "assume'..

     I know what you mean concerning someone being wiped out, say in 1775..he/she could have no physical descendants from that time on.  This very fact of history seems to rule out some folks dream of "time travel"..

   We know that each progenitor's descendants can measure many thousands today.  National Geographic estimates that Genghis Khan
 has 16 million descendants living today.
