Glenfield/Marlin Model 60 Question
« on: February 25, 2004, 01:47:52 PM »
I just purchased a Marlin/Glenfield model 60 for $50.  It's almost like new and has a scope on it.  Can anyone tell me if it's possible to date this rifle?

try rimfirecentral. com. Go to the Marlin section and check for manufactures dates. They can help with any rim fire question, it's a great site :D

Sounds like you got a deal there. My friend called me Saturday evening. He said he was at a gunshow and there were 3 model 60's there for 100 bucks each. He said if I would offer 90 bucks I'd most likely get one. I laughed and told him that Walmart had them a week ago for 99 bucks. New in the box. May as well buy a new one.

Yup, I think I did.  It's in pretty good shape.  I've been running patches through the bore with "Leadaway" cloth for about two weeks now, and while they still don't come out perfectly clean, the bore seems to be in excellent shape.  I just re-crowned the muzzle as I noticed that there were a couple really small dings on it.  Perhaps that is the reason why the original owner sold it?  Anyway, so far as I can see, it'll shoot like brand new, or better, by the time I'm done with it.  I love these projects!
