About 20 years ago, on one of my historical interest jaunts, I visited the scenes of the legendary Hatfield/McCoy feud. One stop I made was at the Hatfield cemetery, where Anse, his wife and much of their family are buried.
At the time, my son was running a Christian youth ministry, doing worthwhile projects for others. When I mentioned that at that time,
the cemetery was somewhat neglected, he started inquires to perhaps go there and do a cleanup and repair, as they had done in
some local cemeteries.
His inquires must have sparked some interest, since replies said that other applications were in to do the job. So, when I viewed this video..I noted some improvements...mostly in whte stone monuments. As I recall the statue of Anse was of some sort of bronze,
rather than white stone a it is now. The bridge down near the road, seems to be a new addition also.
Anse must have been uncomfortable with the nickname "Devil", later in life, since he did get saved prior to his death.
