Ironglow, they didn't have baby formula when you and I grew up, and not all women were able to breast feed. What do you suppose they gave their babies back then?
You point out an important factor...baby formula was barely in use 70 years ago..yet the babies made it through to a regular
childhood somehow.
Today, we are a 'spoiled' populace...particularly among those younger than you and I..
When the first socialist sponsored shortage showed itself months ago, I ventured to offer some encouragement to mothers who
were facing this shortage. I posted on Facebook, how before "formulas" were in popular use, mothers would use reconstituted condensed milk, with Karo corn syrup added in such situations.
I only offered it as way frantic mothers could still feed their babies. Well, you would think I told them to put their babies in a dumpster. Right away, women posted how there was NO WAY they could do without the factory made formula.
Up came the excuses, how badly it is needed for certain cases of ailing babies. In the first place, I wasn't speaking of the rare case, but the 99.8% of the babies which could manage well on the home formula I had seen used, before any factory formula was available.
No "thank you for the tip..since I was worried what I could do." Go figure...
