I'm surprised that Alabama didn't make the top 10.  Mobiles ports are expanding.  Huntsville is growing due to more space things going on.  We have car manufacturing with Mercedes, Honda, Hundai in Alabama with many parts suppliers.  We also have two major military bases at Anniston and at Ft. Rucker, with Fort Benning on border with Georgia.  Also, an air force base in Montgomery.  We are a major source of peanuts, peaches, and pecans for the nation as well as cotton and soybeans.  Taxes are very low here.  Property taxes one of the lowest in the nation as well as state income tax.  Tourism is also big as a lot of people travel through Alabama to get to other places.  At one time new industries do not pay taxes for the first 5 years.

More impressive is that 5 of those states made the top 10 in GDP $$.
