Encore pistol & rifle frame question
« on: March 13, 2004, 07:08:38 PM »
My question is one that I have not seen asked.  Is it legal to convert this pistol into rifle configuration?  Or is a pistol only a pistol and rifle a rifle frame?
I am interested in purchasing a Encore pistol frame and possibly getting it in 260 Rem.  My use for this first barrel would be deer hunting in Minnesota's shotgun zone.  I am looking at EABCO since they are located in my home town and a friend of my brother bought his setup there.  I hunted with him last deer season and it was a nice set up.  He was successfully with it also.

Ski, this question continues to come up on this and other boards.  Check the history file.  You can/may change the configuration of your Contender/Encore from pistol to carbine and back, BUT. NEVER, NEVER. NEVER have  the carbine buttstock on the frame with a barrel shorter than 16inches!!!!  You can have the 16 inch barrels on your frame and setup as a pistol.

My 209x50 Encore Camo buttstock recoil pad is molded with the following
" WARNING FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS USE WITH BARREL LESS THAN 16in.  "
