Well, I finally got my Raging Bull 454 Casull 8-3/8" barrel from Taurus. 12 weeks later to the day.
I bought it brand new, and was shooting reloads with a buddy of mine. While he was shooting I went back to the truck for something, and evidently he had a squib fire, and then fired another round, and kept firing until it was empty.
He handed me the handgun, and I saw a big bulge, with cracks on each side of the barrel. The squib lodged a bullet in the barrel, then the next one slammed it through, doing the damage. He didn't even notice, cept for one round kicking a little harder...
Them barrels are tough, and thank God no one was hurt.
It also had a timing problem with one cylinder not fully ligning up, and another with the bolt not locking before the hammer was pulled back fully.
They replaced the barrel, and the timing shows all chambers ligning up correctly, but now one cylinders bolt intermittantly does not lock before the hammer is slowly pulled all the way back.
Once more they scratched it. Brand new pistol comes back with a scratch, and what looks like mars from the vise jaws on the satin stainless finish.
They fixed it free under warranty, and that is very generous for the barrel. But it's still not right, and you think if it went back for repair, someone would have had the expertise to fix it completely, specially when I noted the problems in detail.
I hope it shoots well.
