Predicted One Below Zero Tomorrow Night

And I've got a cow with a 4 day old calf (bull got to her late).That might not work with predicted 40+ mph winds.

Plan? Pen her in a corral with a shed. Then rope the calf, and drag his little butt to that pen, and momma.

I expect no cooperation from either, and hope my horse and myself are having a good day. Tomorrow.

Forecast is not as chilly as forecast a week ago, but next three days high of 0 with lows from 13 to 7 below, but alll in all a mild to average winter compared to many.

My Olds needs new head gaskets, 1,600 dollars estimate; now the radiator and heater coe were shot, but this is probably been the main problem for a long, long time only it got worse when the other two went.

2 above here this morning but until superior freezes it keeps us along the shore a good 5 degrees warmer then the inland areas. But with that break in temps comes the fact that we get more snow because of lake effect storms.

Yeah, it's colder north of here, but the calf makes it a problem for me. Wasn't counting on him this time of year.

Latest guess for here is back up to 6 with a windchill of -12. I will actually know come Friday morning.  Whatever it is it's going to be extra cold for my area.

Thanks, I've got a plan on gettin'em penned, but I don't expect much cooperation. This is her 1st calf and she's really protective.

Ended up gettin about 15 head penned, but my momma cow and calf was in the bunch. Shut the main gate and me and Nacho sorted the cow and calf outta that little bunch.
Momma and calf have gotta little shelter and a bale of alfalfa to keep the milk comin.

Horse had a good day, which means I had a good day.

-1 degrees tonight, and tomorrow the high is supposed to be 10 degrees.

Tomorrow night 8 degrees, with a Friday high of 20.

Gonna be chopped waterin tanks for a couple of days.

The storm hit just before midnight. 60 mph+ wind gusts and snow. Lost our electricity for about 5 hours. Its now 2 degrees and the winds still howling.
Wondering if my calf made it through the night?

Yup!  We were supposed to get it too..but I checked just before daylight, normally lowest temp..and read +26 F..

About 2 1/2" of ice on the stock tanks this mornin. Took an ax to that for cattle and horses. My calf seems to be ok in the shed.

2 degrees this morning with blowing snow, and 40 to 50mph winds.

Well the wonderful weather services seem to see things differently .
One for where I am at says is it -7 and the other says it is -10; one says the wind is 11mph, the other says it is 18mph.

Having been out shoveling snow an hour ago, I would put my money on the latter of the two, I quit shoveling as I saw the wind drifts filling in behind me.
The service I would put my money on says it will be sub-zero till Saturday when it is supposed to get to One Degree above zero.

This is not bad weather for this area; Warm , for this area weather will be coming a week from now, actually far warmer than I like as I do not like above freezing weather from Dec. through Feb.

We are going to have single digits for a few days and like Bob I want winter to stay frozen for a few months before the mud of spring.
