Christmas in Dubai 2022..
« on: December 19, 2022, 08:15:35 AM »
Here is Dubai, all decorated up for Christmas !  Seems amazing that a Muslim nation would decorate up for Christmas.
But keep in mind, Dubai is going all out for Tourism and commerce.

Still, one would be hard pressed to imagine the Ayatollahs in Iran doing such a thing...

Of course, the United Arab Emirates are also party to the Abraham accord..

IG....
Actually, second to Mohammed, Jesus is the most revered prophet in the Koran and Islam. Known as Jesus the Redeemer.
It is not unusual for moslems to celebrate Christmas. In fact, Iran use to get pretty decked out for Christmas. Don't know if they still do given today's hostility level.
Contrasted in hardcore areas of Israel you have to celebrate Christmas on the quiet as Jews really don't care for Christmas.
.

Actually  Iran was quite tolerant when under the Shah, was it not?  Of course, the difference in the interpretation of Jesus is a sticking point, but as with any other nation, it seems we could "agree to disagree" without threatening to kill one another.

Of course, much of the tension is sponsored by those who truly have no faith in one or the other, no matter what
  they may imply.

Wonder what they are celebrating? The Muslim faith doesn't believe that Jesus is God, and that He died for our sins and was resurrected.   Of course lots of people in this country celebrate Christmas and don't believe that either.

There's about half a million Christians in Iran.
.

I do understand that there is a strong remnant of the Shah's openness still remaining, but...

How are the Christians treated?  I rather wonder, after seeing how women, just for being women...are treated by the khomeini regime..

It must pain the older folks in Iran, to b8e under such a despotic regime, after the westernization offered by the Shah.

We are facing a similar situation right now, with a despotic, world wide cabal trying to seize power here..

..And a hefty percentage of our people are welcoming in the usurpers.
