I stopped riding tricycles even before I got my first bike.

My friend had some medical issues, and bought
a trike conversion so he could continue to ride
with us. A few years before he got worse and
passed, we were several hundred miles away
out of state and he had a spell and had to be
picked up and hauled back home.  None of us
had a suitable trailer at the time, and I eventually
drew the job of riding it back.  The dadgum
thing was one of the weirdest handling
contraptions I believe I ever had to pilot.
I believe I'll pass at any 3 wheeled conveyances
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Try out a Slingshot. A trike in reverse and very, very stable.

I saw 3 wheel cars and trucks while in Europe. Some like the Morgan, had the single wheel in the rear..others had the single wheel in the front.
Those with a single front wheel were clearly less stable.  Perhaps if that original Honda 3 wheel ATV had been laid out with two wheels leading, they may still be made.

One thing that makes them feel weird with the 3-wheelers...they don't lean..  As a rider of 2 wheels, we know trhat over the road, we do most of our steering by leaning.
One thing I miss with most bikes, is a place to put my feet.  My 13EEEs need some room, and pegs don't work well for many miles.  My scooter has a full platform to use ..however I want to plant my feet.

Just me-  I rode 3 wheel ATV'S for a
lot of years, and had no problems
with them as far as handling.
They were banned because of all
the inexperienced riders crashing,
and the majority of the hurt people
not wearing any safety equipment.
I went to the consumer products
safety commission hearing about
the ban, and the majority of the
kids injured had no adult supervision
and weren't wearing any safety
equipment. The majority of all the
injured were vastly inexperienced.

There's plenty of 4 wheel ATV and
UTV wrecks today with people not
wearing safety gear, no practical
experience riding at speed

buddy bought a vega gt for a v8 swap. it had 22k on it and was owned by a married GI that didnt beat it. We decided to beat it. We took it out one day and ran the dog crap out of it and made about 75 miles before it had a rod knock. Limped home with it and pulled the motor out and tossed it in the dump. I actually had a pinto. Only ford ive ever owned. It was given to be by a guy i worked with that was going to drive it to the dump. It was RUSTY and had the drivers side door pop riveted shut so you had to crawl in from the passenger side. It was a but ugly brown (mostly rust) station wagon. It had 90k on it. Dammed thing ran great. I took it because it was a 70 mile round trip drive to work and all i had was a lifted chev pickup that got about 9mpg. I drove that car to work and back for 2 years and didnt have a lick of problem with it. Finally one day coming home something felt real weird and i got out and the whole rear end had busted loose and was moving side to side. I heard all the hopla about them exploding but never heard of one local that did. I hate fords but id take a pinto hands down over a vega.

i raced them back in the day and believe me you do lean. you learn to lean and use your legs  and the throttle to kick the back end around. On a side hill leaning is actually alot more important then it is on a 4 wheeler. I actually miss 3 wheelers and would buy one today if someone sold a good one. they were so much more maneuverable in tight woods.

reminds me of snowmobiles in the 60s and early 70s. You were styling if you owned a helmet. Most couldnt afford or wouldnt waste the money on one. I remember one year for christmas getting a new helmet that was a copy of the one wore on easy rider. I was the envy of all my buddys. I had a helmet and even a real ski-doo tnt jacket. Most of my buddys wore a chuke and a pair of those orange air force on piece cold weather flight suits and a pair of bunny boots that the GI's stole from the base and gave away or sold. Helmets werent even mandatroy to race snowmobiles back then. think about all the times ive been spit off of motorcross bikes 3 wheelers and snowmobiles and even cars and a guy has to figure God didnt want you.

The Pintos did explode, but-- it was normally from being "tail ended"..  Not far from where my son is buried in the
local cemetery, is the grave of a young local man, who was burned to death in a Pinto.

  Now, for this statement;

"wouldnt be caught dead on a 3 wheeled motorcycle if you can even call that can am or polaris slingshot a motorcyle. I never even be caught dead driving one of those 3 wheeled harley conversions. No thanks ill take my pickup or walk first."

I have heard some folks say similar things, and wondered about the genesis of such a claim, in which they also
    include motor scooters.

So, just for curiosity's sake... what do you find inherently wrong with, 3 wheel motorcycles, or scooters,
   Harley or not?
What is the hidden, esoteric reason some guys just deny these, often without even trying one ?

Surely, that 3 wheeler is more stable than a 2 wheel bike..especially where gravel, grass clippings or a
tar snake are encountered on the road. Also far more comfortable for a rider.
